Let’s enjoy one of the best Spanish fiestas known worldwide, la Tomatina in Buñol (Valencia).
Do you know …?
On the 27 August 2002, the General Tourism Office awarded the Tomatina of Buñol with the title of Festival of International Tourist Interest
Each year there are more and more people participating in the festival, they will have their pockets full of tomatos and they will be ready to throw water to each other
11h: The tomato battle starts!!!
The tomatos must be squashed before throwing them, to avoid hurting people.
When you hear the second shot, you must stop throwing tomatos.
-12h: Washing ourselves with hoses that locals provide.
-We can have lunch somewhere or buying food to make a picnic on the river later.
Do not wear flip-flops, but old sports shoes
Do not wear clothes that you want to use again in the future, the clothes will probably get broken.
Dive masks are very practical, because the tomatos cause itchiness in the eyes. Later, your skin will be very smooth due to the tomatos.
Enjoy it the most. It is great to be able to do something as nonsense as throwing tomatos to anyone moving for an hour. You can relieve all your tightness. We should celebrate it more often.
If you do not live nearby and you need accommodation, we recommend you to find accommodation in Valencia, otherwise it could be difficult.
If you want to take pictures, you need an aquatic camera. Do not bring a video camera.
Never, and we mean never, climb on a gate, window, wall, etc. to be able to watch the battle, you will became the target of 40.000 people.
Do not miss the “soap-post” a pole rubbed in soap with a ham leg hanging at the top. If you can reach the top, the ham leg is yours…
